A roundabout survey circulating through Riverdale is not from the municipal government, says Coun. Bev Buckway.

Speaking at city hall last night, Buckway said she's concerned with reports of a survey circulating through the subdivision asking whether residents approve of the roundabout planned for the Lewes Boulevard-Hospital Road intersection.

'This survey was brought to my attention by residents ....' Buckway said, explaining that non-official surveys could lead to the public being misinformed.

'It is not part of the municipal process that will take place before the building of the roundabout is confirmed.'

Buckway said reports that the city has planned a traffic circle at the intersection are incorrect.

The correct information would be the city has budgeted ($250,000) for a roundabout in 2007.

'The city is still doing the necessary design work and checking transportation models to confirm that a roundabout could be an option to traffic signals in order to provide safer and more efficient movement for not only vehicles but for cyclists and pedestrians as well.'
