City council has awarded the contract and set aside more money for water main improvement on Lambert Street to Sixth Avenue.

Last Monday evening, council unanimously agreed to award the contract to Castle Rock Enterprises. Its bid on the project is $660,285 plus the GST.

P.S. Sihdu Trucking Ltd submitted the only other bid.

The winning bid came in over-budget. Administration explained that the bids are current market value. The city does not believe the price will come down.

The city added $125,000. The project itself is being funded by the Build Canada Clean Water Waste Water Fund. There is enough money available in the city’s agreement to allow for the additional amount.

An internal review committee looked over Castle Rock’s bid and determined it can do the work properly.
