Whether RCMP Cpl. Ken Alderson was alone when his private vehicle left the road and crashed last week is a matter still under investigation, says Sgt. Guy Rook.

Rook said in an interview today that Alderson, the Faro detachment commander, was off-duty last Thursday and was travelling in his private vehicle when it left the Robert Campbell Highway east of Carmacks.

RCMP officers from Carmacks arrived at the accident scene at approximately 5:40 p.m., Rook told the Star.

'He was transported to the Carmacks nursing station, and transferred to Whitehorse General Hospital,' the sergeant said. 'He sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.'

Rook said Alderson was admitted to the hospital but has since been released.

Alderson was alone in the vehicle when the Carmacks RCMP arrived. Whether he was alone in the vehicle at the time of the accident is a matter still under investigation, Rook said.

Information that has come to the Star's attention this week indicates Alderson had been jumped and beaten by a couple of males while he was in Ross River.

Other accounts circulating around the communities involved suggest the veteran officer was jumped by a couple of young offenders.

Another bit of information indicated Alderson was transporting two prisoners in his police vehicle when the accident occurred.

Yet another version was that he was transporting two males in his private vehicle whom he'd arrested after he'd encountered suspicious circumstances while off-duty and on his way to Whitehorse.

'I can tell you there was no person in RCMP custody in the vehicle,' Rook said.

'Whether there were passengers in the vehicle is still under investigation.'

I hope he's okay these days. Don't know for certain if he was the same Officer as back in them days. (Mickey-Mouse-watch, same Name ) Good person, him. If people hurt him I hope that grandfather bear got them Offenders in some bad mood.

To Ken: Watch for a Raven with white in it's wings, that flew some long distance, back home.
