The Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettle Campaign raised $88,000.

The total exceeded the campaign’s goal of $77,000 by nearly 15 per cent.

“We are so grateful to the people of Whitehorse for their incredible generosity,” said Ian McKenzie, the Salvation Army’s executive director.

“Demand for our services is up about 20 per cent over last year, and these additional funds will go a long way to helping us meet the need in our community.”

The campaign provides key funds for the Sally Ann’s meal, shelter and drop-in programs.

“On behalf of the Salvation Army, I want to extend our deepest thanks to everyone who donated at the kettle and to all the volunteers who gave their time to ring the kettle bells,” said McKenzie.

“We are truly blessed to be part of such a caring and giving community.”
