RCMP arrested two Whitehorse men and seized a cache of weapons, including five assault rifles, over the weekend.

Whitehorse RCMP executed a search warrant on a Northland Trailer Park residence on Saturday.

A number of weapons were seized, including five assault rifles, two handguns and numerous firearms parts, Const. Christine Grant said today.

She would not go into any details as to what led to the search warrant being granted.

The residents, 41-year-old Dustin Mackie and 39-year-old Steven Rathburn, have been charged with the possession of a prohibited weapon and the manufacturing of a firearm.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.

The two men will make a second appearance in territorial court on Thursday.
