A Whitehorse man was arrested for suspected drunk driving Saturday morning, after significant damage was done to a number of other vehicles on the road.
The driver of a 2001 Ford Expedition was initially involved in a collision with a 2008 Ford Mustang on Main Street, the RCMP reported this morning, before taking off northbound on Fourth Avenue.
The driver of the Expedition lost control of his vehicle and struck a snow bank at the entrance to the Qwanlin Mall, police said, then took out a traffic sign.
From there, he struck four vehicles which were parked in the parking lot – a Jeep, a Toyota Tercel, another Expedition and a Toyota Corolla – before coming to rest against a lamp post. No one was in the vehicles at the time they were struck.
The police and ambulance attendants were called to the scene at 11:55 a.m. The 47-year-old driver of the Expedition was examined by the paramedics, then arrested. He was later released on a promise to appear in court on March 31.
He will face charges of uttering threats and impaired driving, police said today.
Police did not have an estimate of the damage he caused, but did say the suspect's vehicle is likely a write-off.

Yes, having a beer is such a problem and completly sad (rolls eyes). I think I'll promote this kind of western culture when Canada works over Switzerland.

Arn, you constantly defend the use of alcohol, it's sad really. I agree our culture (not just western as drinking is a large problem in Europe also)has made this acceptable, but having people like you defend it is just backwards.

For many alcoholics it's not too late to quit. Damage to the liver is capable of rejuvenation as well as the brain, although to a lesser extent.
Of course the mental disorders that alcoholics attempt to cower from will still need to be addressed. Disorders that tend to become magnified with abusive consumption, all too apparent to everyone except the alcoholic immersed in delusions of grandeur.
"He will face charges of uttering threats and impaired driving..." (loser...)

there lucky no one was hurt or fatalities!!. that intersection is busy with people of all ages walk through there constantly,
the R.C.M.P should do more check stops, every second friday, not just durring the holidays. and not just do checks on the on the alaska hwy. and check stops should happen in all the communities.
it's seems the witching hour for people to drink and drive is at midnight or shortley after that,
thank god,no one was hurt! there must have been an angel watching over them.

Its nice to see our laws protecting those who drive drunk. He should be confined to a cell in WCC until his court date.
Pathetic.
