Investigators from the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) visited the offices of a Yukon government department carrying out search warrants on Tuesday, YG and the agency have confirmed.

That’s the Department of Economic Development, which was the subject of warrants by the agency, related to an investigation involving an unnamed Whitehorse resident.

The search warrants applied to both the workplace and residence of that person.

Two other people who live in the Lower Mainland of B.C. were also involved, CBSA spokesperson Lisa White wrote Thursday.

The agency “conducts enforcement actions when it is believed that a contravention of the Customs Act or the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act has occurred,” she said.

The department itself said Wednesday that YG does not comment on matters that relate to an ongoing investigation. It redirected inquiries to the CBSA.

In the legislature Wednesday, Justice Minister Tracy-Anne McPhee confirmed that the agency “executed a warrant here in the City of Whitehorse.” She had been questioned about it by the Yukon Party’s Brad Cathers.

“They are conducting an investigation, to which this government and the ministers and the MLAs on this side of the House are not privy,” McPhee added.

Cathers had asked the government about the “warrant for files and electronics.”

White said “it would be inappropriate to provide any further details,” as the investigation is ongoing.

I hope they dig deep and don't let it go. And when you thought you found it, dig even deeper.

@ Moe - Hope you enjoy staring off into space... You will never be able to know what is going on in this town because of the spin-politics that pervert every corner of the Yukon...

You might want to get some eye drops cause you gonna spend a longtime looking forward and if you blink... There goes the truth... There goes accountability... There goes transparency... and, There goes the openness...

What ever happened with that situation involving the 202? Immigration related thing. People paying to become Canadians. Maybe this has something to do with that.

I am glad CBSA and the media are on it and look forward to knowing what is going on in this town with respect to this case.
