Whitehorse RCMP will be co-hosting a bicycle auction on Saturday in support of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Yukon.
Whitehorse RCMP will be co-hosting a bicycle auction on Saturday in support of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Yukon.
While on patrol, officers regularly recover bicycles that have not been reported as lost or stolen.
These bikes are held in storage for approximately nine months to a year. Bikes not claimed in that time are auctioned off as a fundraiser.
This year, funds from the auction will support Special Olympics Yukon, a local organization that many Yukon RCMP employees hold near and dear to their hearts, police said Wednesday.
Saturday’s auction will be held on Fifth Avenue, behind the RCMP detachment.
There will be more than 100 bikes – big and small – available to bid on. Viewings will begin at 11:30 a.m., with the auction set to start at noon.
Due to the current Yukon government orders related to the pandemic, the auction cannot accommodate more than 40 people at any given time during the event.
