Beringia centre to celebrate grand reopening
The Yukon Beringia Interpretive Centre will host a celebration in honour of its grand reopening on Saturday.
The Yukon Beringia Interpretive Centre will host a celebration in honour of its grand reopening on Saturday.
“This community-oriented event marks the end of months of exhibit renewal work and will showcase the centre’s newly renovated main exhibit hall,” the Yukon government said Wednesday.
“During the event, visitors are invited to explore the new space and learn more about them from interpretive guides and representatives from the Yukon Palaeontology program.”
The grand reopening will also feature a free barbecue with food from Yukon businesses, performances by singer-songwriter Remy Rodden, and facepainting and balloon animals by children’s performer Claire Ness.
There will also be atlatl demonstrations, a community craft project, draws for free museum memberships and more.
Tourism and Culture Minister John Streicker, centre manager Christie Grekul and Yukon palaeontologist Dr. Grant Zazula will be present during the 11 a.m.-to-2 p.m. event.
