A black bear was seen in the Takhini area Thursday afternoon near the Pepsi Softball Centre field and nearby school.

It was eventually returned to the green-space thanks to help from the RCMP and Environment Yukon.

The department confirmed this morning the bear did not seem to be interested in dealing with humans, but if there was public safety concern, a notice would have been sent out.

Conservation officers worked into Thursday evening after YG was alerted of the bear during the afternoon. Police shut down part of the area around the site shortly before 5 p.m. for about 10 minutes to allow the bear to cross.

Officials monitored the animal afterward to ensure it did not approach any humans or facilities.

“It’s a good reminder that this happens, this is the time of year when bears come out,” Erin Loxam, an Environment Yukon spokesperson, said this morning.

She reminded residents and those using green spaces to ensure they’re managing their attractants, make noise and be aware of possible interactions to better plan ahead.

Hey Romy...suppose, but that is not very fair to make Yogi buy it though.
Given the absolute obsession with alleged arrival dates, Yogi’s DNA supersedes everyone of us bi-pods, we should just “repatriate” the lan’
making the evil humans leave, compensate Yogi’s DNA with den to death care. Raze all the evidence of the invaders, reclamation the likes of which never seen.

The CBC fruit fly scientist, would support that...as long as we let him build a giant home and “steward” Yogi’s kin.
That is what Yogi’s lawyer would say certainly.

Might have just come to town to file a class action lawsuit for being displaced and loss of the bear culture with a lawyer type?
