Vancouver resident Wesley Alexander has been charged with one count of robbery after an incident that happened at Bernie’s Race Trac Gas last April.

The Vancouver Police Department arrested the 34-year-old last Thursday, Whitehorse RCMP said today.

Alexander had been on a Canada-wide warrant.

He was brought back to the territory and appeared Monday in territorial court.

Whitehorse RCMP had been dispatched before 10:30 p.m. last April 15 to a report of a robbery committed by a man carrying a blowtorch.

The suspect left with $700 in cash, some of which was later recovered.

“Police Dog Services were tracking the suspect when they came across the money,” Whitehorse RCMP spokesperson Const. Julia Fox told the Star.

The suspect, however was not tracked to a residence.

“Information came to light that led investigators to identifying Alexander as a suspect,” Whitehorse RCMP said today.

They indicated they are still investigating two robberies at Goody’s Gas Bar off Wann Road in Porter Creek from May and June of this year.

In both cases, an unknown man used an unlit blowtorch to rob the business.

On May 10, $490 was taken from the store.

On June 11, a man tried to rob the store again, but fled as he was confronted by an employee.

The RCMP is asking anyone with information on any of the robberies to contact them at 667-5555.

Alexander is scheduled to be back in court on Oct. 28 for plea.

It wasn't our M Division that got him...the Vancouver Police Dept got him. I don't know that actual police work is M Divisions forte.

Do you think those three incidences may be connected????? And they are still looking for the guy that did Goody's? They have his picture for crying out loud. And they have him so compare the two. What a bunch of B.S. I guess if he swears he didn't, then it must not be him…..Right?????

Great to see a win here. Now we just need the judiciary to hand down a stiff sentence.
