The Whitehorse Fire Department responded
The Whitehorse Fire Department responded to a report of a blaze in an apartment on the second floor of a downtown building at around 1:40 this morning.
Whitehorse Fire Chief Kevin Lyslo told the Star there is significant smoke and water damage to the bachelor apartment on Third Avenue near Steele Street.
There is also water damage to the Yukon Man Barber Shop located below.
Residents of the apartment building were asked to stay out of their homes for the rest of the night.
The building owner is currently working on cleaning the structure so they can return.
The cause of the fire is still being determined.

Thanks to the quick action of the Fire Department for saving the rest of the building and the tenants. Although tenants were displaced the building just has to be fixed, not replaced. Good job Whitehorse Fire Department. Also good job on the landlord for taking care of the tenants.
