A Boeing 757-200 landing in Whitehorse today signals a new opportunity for travelling Yukoners and a new deal for the territory's airline.

That's the opinion of Air North president Joseph Sparling and Harmony Airways spokesperson Marie Rogers, who announced a partnership between their two organizations today.

The announcement coincides with a Harmony World Tour promotion which will see 99 passengers travel to 12 destinations across the world at a cost of $23,000.

Whitehorse is the only stop Harmony is making on its worldwide tour.

A 757-200 can carry between178 and 202 passengers, has a wingspan of 38.5 metres and a length of 47.32 metres.

Other destinations on the tour, which originates in Toronto, include Osaka and Tokyo, Japan; Hong Kong, China; Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; Siem Riep, Cambodia; Dubai, United Arab Emirates; New Delhi, India and Nairobi, Kenya.

Rogers said the company chose Whitehorse as its only North American destination because the Yukon is an exotic destination with a similar draw to other regular Harmony stops such as Hawaii, and is timely considering the new Air North deal.

The deal, Rogers said, will see Yukon residents gain the ability to book a single trip with Harmony, be flown to Vancouver by Air North and then transfer to a Harmony plane which will then take travellers to other places.

'Yukoners will (now) be able to access our tours (from Whitehorse) in a single package,' she said.

Sparling said he was delighted to make the announcement on behalf of his company.

'We are pleased that the 'round the world tour has chosen the Yukon as their only North American stop, and we're happy the group is flying with Harmony.

'We're excited to start working together (with Harmony) and giving Yukoners new vacation options this winter,' Sparling said.

As part of its tour packages, Harmony flies regular flights to Las Vegas, Honolulu, Maui, Palm Springs and Toronto.

Starting in December, Harmony will fly direct non-stop flights from Abbotsford, Kelowna, Victoria and Calgary to Hawaii.

Rogers said Yukoners can book trips through www.harmonyairways.com or through a travel agent.
