Premier Darrell Pasloski announced this morning he will seek the Yukon Party nomination to run in the new Mountainview riding in the upcoming territorial election.

The riding encompasses McIntyre, Valleyview, Hillcrest and Granger.

McIntyre is part of Environment Minister John Edzerza's McIntyre-Takhini riding.

Pasloski also announced today that Edzerza will not be seeking re-election in order to focus on his health. The minister is currently undergoing treatment for leukemia.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with John for a successful treatment,” Pasloski told the Star late this morning.

The premier, who assumed office  June 11, said he has spoken to Edzerza and that he fully supports his intention to run in this new riding.

Both the MLA for Riverdale North, Ted Staffen, and the MLA for Southern Lakes, Patrick Rouble, have recently announced that they will not be seeking re-election in the election, which must be called by October.

Pasloski has lived in Granger for the past 16 years and has been involved with the Granger Community Association during some of that time.

Pasloski said he is looking forward to talking to people in his riding and learning what issues are important to them.

"It's a busy time, and there is a lot of new things going on, but I'm going to make sure I can do as much as I can for this riding.”
