Kluane Adamek, the Assembly of First Nations’ Yukon regional chief, has extended her congratulations to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Yukon MP-designate Brendan Hanley for their election victories on Monday.

“The AFN Yukon Region looks forward to working collaboratively to advance regional priorities and help fulfill the commitments that have been made to ensure access and equity for all First Nation peoples,” she said in a statement released Tuesday.

“I also extend congratulations to all the Indigenous candidates who put their names forward for the 44th federal election,” Adamek added.

“Leading this country is an immense responsibility that includes working collaboratively with First Nations to advance the truth first, and then reconciliation.

“This is required to create the transformative change that this country so desperately needs,” she said.

“As we continue to navigate through the COVID-19 pandemic, we must not forget the devastating reality facing the environment – our Mother Earth – and the impacts of climate change both today and in the future.”

Yukon First Nations, Adamek added, “have been leading the country in areas of climate action, COVID-19 planning and recovery, MMIWG2S+ advancements, implementation of the Final Agreements, and the advancement of self-determination.

“Our people continue to advance innovative solutions, both regionally and nationally, on housing, program and service delivery, economic development, language revitalization and culturally-based education.

“We require a firm commitment and will need the political will to support First Nation-led solutions in these key areas.”

Canada, said the regional chief, “is a fabric woven with many complex issues but also many opportunities, and several of those opportunities exist right here in the Yukon.”

My my, the whos who of idiotic racist commenting on this story. Not sure if you boneheads realize Kluane is the AFN Regional Chief for Yukon and works for Yukon First Nations to further the effort to bring first nations up to national levels in representation at all political levels.
Now go climb back under your rocks.

"Truth first, then reconciliation". Getting tired of this old refrain. When will these people acknowledge the truth, and how much more reconciliation/cash do they want. Come on folks, the well is getting dry. How about a thank you or two for all the things the non FN has done for you over the years. It's not just whites that are paying the taxes anymore, it's all the races on the planet. What about yours?

Hey Peter...maybe you didn’t get the memo, you are not supposed to nor allowed to challenge cultural supremacists.

Everything that rolls off their oppressed tongue is to be thee truth never to be questioned...ever ever EVER!
Best way to remain a victim, is to keep beating that victim drum.
Funny, like all political blowholes collecting chins and arses...the pattern continues.
Can I thank any cultural elites that did not enter the colonial power grab, giving you custody of your fellow man via subjugation?
Can I thank any white folks that did not choose, a non whitey when voting?

What a ridiculous race obsession we are engineered to have here.
We are being gas lit to judge ALL books by their covers and care not what the chapters contain...shameful to the enth degree.
However, most books have white pages with black letters.
...soon all books to be banned and burnt in these Orwellian times suppose?
