The 25-year-old is charged with second-degree murder.
Keith Richard Blanchard, 28, was found at a Pelly Crossing residence with a stab wound to the chest at about 9:40 p.m. Feb. 22.
He was transported to the Pelly Crossing nursing station, where he was stabilized, but he died at 12:55 a.m. en route to Mayo.
He was to be driven to Mayo, where a medivac flight was waiting to take him to Whitehorse General Hospital.
Asp was arrested at the scene where Blanchard was stabbed.
Both had been living in Pelly for a couple of months when the stabbing occurred.
A person convicted of second-degree murder faces imprisonment for life with no eligibility for parole for between 10 and 25 years.
A sentencing judge has the discretion to set parole eligibility.
