A man has been charged in relation to a suspicious incident at École Whitehorse Elementary School.

David Nesbitt, 52, is facing charges of harassment and mischief after witnesses reported a suspicious male recording videos at the school last week.

Nesbitt made his first appearance on the charges last Thursday in territorial court.

He was released on a number of conditions, including:

• staying 50 metres away from the school;

• not attending any school grounds, parks, playgrounds or pools in the Yukon; and

• not possessing a cellphone nor any other recording devices.

Nesbitt was arrested in downtown Whitehorse before 5 p.m. last Wednesday.

This information was not available from the RCMP on Friday, when the Star first reported on the concerns an individual’s actions had prompted at the school.

The previous day, Whitehorse RCMP had responded to a complaint of a suspicious male at the school at around 2:45 p.m.

Witnesses reported that he was using an electronic device to take what they believed were videos of school staff and students.

Police spoke with the man on the scene and he left the area without incident.

Upon further investigation, officers learned more information regarding another incident that occurred on Oct. 14 at the same location.

RCMP said they worked closely with the Department of Education and school staff on the matter and that community safety remains a priority.

Nesbitt’s next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 8.

Police urge the public to contact them at 667-5555 if they witness suspicious activity.

Well you are too late. He is in Vancouver and has bought a new phone at a Walmart. He was completely broke and had no money to eat or place to stay. Was staying in Bank Kiosks so how did he get the money to fly and buy a phone? Did the Govy put him on the plane with a handful of cash? You can follow him on youtube or Facebook. He is a very troubled individual that needs help (Meds) he doesn't just need to be harassed and moved he will only get worse, way worse. Police have had many interactions with him. Dawson Creek, Fort Nelson, Whitehorse. What a shame.

Good luck with him showing up in court. He already bought a one-way plane ticket to Vancouver and bought a new phone to keep recording videos. Just look up “whereismycanada” under Facebook. Hopefully he gets the help he needs for his issues.

So he is already breaching his conditions because if you watch his new YouTube videos and Facebook updates from today you know he has a cellphone and is in Vancouver. He also says he will not return to Whitehorse because of the charges. Please do not bring him back here. I feel bad that he is mentally ill but am scared of him too.

"Not possessing a cellphone nor any other recording devices."
He is still actively posting pictures and videos to his Facebook page and YouTube channel. If you watch any on his stuff it's clear he is deluded and needs professional help.

He already has a new cell and is posting on his Facebook page again,.. from Vancouver. Seriously the guy needs help.
Keep in mind, he thinks the cops stole his cellphone and is trying to silence him...
