An accused and the man he's charged with stabbing are both staying in the territory's jail, but are being kept apart by a piece of paper.

Justice of the peace Dean Cameron has granted the Crown's request that Dezi Kouciah Graham, also known by the last name of Papequash, have no contact with the complainant.

The complainant, a local man in his mid 20s, is not cooperating with the RCMP's investigation. It's hoped the no-contact order will help gain the man's help, prosecutor Kevin Drolet indicated to the court Tuesday afternoon.

Both Graham and the complainant are currently prisoners at the Whitehorse Correctional Centre.

Police arrested the 22-year-old Graham Monday night, approximately four months after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

He's charged with aggravated assault.

A 911 call early last Sept. 6 saw police officers arrive at an O'Brien Place home to discover a man holding his abdomen, bleeding profusely.

He had been stabbed in the left side of his chest and on his hand during a party at the McIntyre subdivision home. The man was taken to Whitehorse General Hospital for treatment.

Graham was remanded into custody until Jan. 19 so a bail report can be prepared to determine whether he's a candidate for pre-trial release.

The Crown is opposed to Graham's release.
