A 47-year-old Caucasian man was in court Friday charged with 49 criminal offences, including numerous counts of sexual assault against individuals under the age of 16.

A publication ban imposed by territorial court Judge Peter Chisholm prohibits the publication of any evidence that would identify the accused and the complainants.

The man was remanded into custody pending his next court appearance on Feb. 24.

In addition to the charges of sexually assaulting the youth, he faces several charges of making child pornography and possessing child pornography.

He’s facing several charges of touching individuals under the age of 16 for sexual purposes.

As well, he’s charged with numerous counts of surreptitiously observing the minors in a place where the individuals would normally expect privacy.

There are a total of 11 complainants.

The charges span several years in the Yukon, dating back to 2008 and running through to August 2013.

RCMP Insp. Brian Jones said Friday the police will not be saying anything about the case nor the investigation because of the sweeping publication bans.

There were several people in the public gallery Friday for the man’s first appearance, including employees with the Department of Justice and members of the public.

I guess the crown and police don't want to spotlight anyone at this time until evidence is firmed up ???

Notice he is identified as Caucasian. Identified as any other race would be forbidden and considered as racist.
