Accident claims youth’s life

A Watson Lake youth is dead following a Wednesday evening accident on Airport Road, the RCMP said early this afternoon.

A Watson Lake youth is dead following a Wednesday evening accident on Airport Road, the RCMP said early this afternoon.

The youth, 11, was driving a dirt bike when it collided with a pickup truck.

Watson Lake RCMP, Yukon Emergency Medical Services, and the Watson Lake Volunteer Fire Department responded to the incident at around 6 p.m.

RCMP collision and reconstruction also attended the scene.

The fatality is still being investigated by the Yukon Coroner’s Service.

This is the third death in Watson Lake this month.

On July 16, a dismembered body was found in an industrial area. The victim was recently identified as Andy Giraudel, 36.

Travis Dennis, 22, is charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death.

On July 18, 27-year old Tiffany Jimmy was found dead. Her death is not being considered suspicious.
