A 34-year-old man was killed in a motorcycle accident south of Whitehorse on Saturday afternoon.
Yukon’s chief coroner Kirsten Macdonald has identified the man as whitehorse resident Dylan Lavoie.
Whitehorse RCMP confirmed that shortly before 4:30 p.m. Saturday, police were dispatched to a single vehicle collision near mile 1401 of the Alaska Highway.
The exact location has not been confirmed but is said to be near Marsh Lake, Const. Julia Fox said this morning.
Lavoie was pronounced dead at the scene, which was attended by the Yukon Coroner’s Service and Yukon RCMP collision analyst and re-constructionist.
Traffic on that stretch of the highway was single-lane while the scene was being investigated.
It is unknown at this time whether speed, alcohol or drugs were factors in the accident, police said.
“Toxicology analysis will be performed at the B.C. Provincial Toxicology Laboratory,” said Macdonald.

So sorry for his family and friends. I knew and enjoyed Dylan and he will be sadly missed.
