The Ayamdigut (Whitehorse) campus of Yukon University has returned to restricted access status due to the potential of COVID-19 exposure.

On Tuesday afternoon, the university was informed by Yukon COVID-19 compliance officers that two students entered campus and moved into campus housing Monday without undergoing the 14-day mandatory self-isolation – as instructed when they entered Yukon.

“The two students have no symptoms,” the university said in a statement.

“They have now entered isolation and will monitored for 14 days.”

Officials are not stating where the students are from.

Dr. Brendan Hanley, the Yukon’s chief medical health officer, has advised the university that risk of COVID-19 infection is low.

“However, to prioritize the health and safety of students and employees and out of an abundance of caution, the university has decided to restrict access to Ayamdigut campus for 48 hours while the movements and interactions of the two students are traced,” the school said.

The campus will return to the phase one level of students and employees studying and working from home.

Access to campus is being restricted to authorized employees only.

Online classes will continue. In-person labs and shop classes will be rescheduled.

Campus housing occupants are asked to restrict their movements for two days also.

Officials anticipate the Ayamdigut campus will reopen Friday.

OK...this is getting rich...and thick...chime in may I ?

Up front I will admit to "not" reading one single word in this article...zip ..not one..clear?
seen the Premiers photo again, the headline...felt compelled to as stated..chime.

A state actor restricting further who may attend a state funded "education" facility, to get state educated with the latest progressive state ideologies...is now getting fussy on who gets in...how am I doing considering nary a word written was read?
I am not even going to address the Kung Flu component as is a moot point to "my" point...next.

For many years now the state has been very selective on who gets in to their state facilities, long before Kung Flu.
Goes back decades this "sorting" of worthiness, and it is accomplished very, very simply too.
No free thinkers allowed, no dissension of the PC Crusade is tolerable without punishment for just one example. others...
all things white are evil helps the grade...
as does all white men in particular really suck will ease your way to a degree...
Group think only, individuals are evil...
Science and biology are racist AND sexist, may get you a job after your assured graduation.

So...those are my points on how they have been restricting who...a looong loooooooong time now.
...and I never even touched on "equity" as it relates to the state and state "education".

I feel very care free..no proof read, since I never read anything even the comments.
I did what our political blowholes and their army of experts, and sycophants do daily...guess and completely speculate based on f/a.
Imagine if one of "my types" held the power?

Open carry handguns across the country...
Castle law clearly defined...
Gallows for rapists...
Gallows and maybe a firing squad for those that rape children...
Our Borders? Not today...

...and submit, both to feedback and moderation.

@ Drum If they were smarter they would probably be going to a real university, not Yuk U.

2 YOUNG people. First days of school. NO CASES OF COVID IN OVER 4 MONTHS. Why on earth would they be "sent back from whence they came"? I read you in different places many times Mr. Brewer.. have not seen you be so hard, (usually the voice of common sense.) These youngsters may not have known the rules. In any case..everyone knows now.

When covid is all over.. 98.9 % of us will still be here. Pandemic? hardly. I am old..if i get covid, likely die..if i get the flu? likely die..if i get pneumonia..i'm a goner, if i fall and break a hip.. average life span for a senior with a broken hip? 3 months..Once you get, really old, it's like running through a mine field with your health. We could probably use a Geriatrics specialist here now.

There are all kinds of masks..one for mining, one for fine dust work, like sheet rock, another one for possible head damage.. and a piece of cotton for what is touted as the world's deadliest pandemic. And people buy into that.. jeez.. Give these young people a break.. why 2 weeks? doesn't it just take 4 days now to do the swab and get a result?

Send them home - if they cannot read instructions how can they possibly be in school!!!! Or welcome in the Yukon.

If they cannot understand the restrictions (I am sure they were given written instructions) why are they intelligent enough to attend the Yukon University?

Seems like people that can't follow the rules and create SIGNIFICANT disruption to staff and students alike, should be invited to return to whence they came immediately.
