Long-time Whitehorse resident Allan Donald Waugh was 69 when he was killed in his home.
Originally from New Brunswick, he came to the Yukon and married his wife of more than 40 years, Lin.
Together, they raised five children, calling the McIntyre subdivision home.
Early on May 30, 2014, Waugh was found dead in his house.
An RCMP police investigation determined he had been murdered by someone who had entered his home that night.
“Allan was a talented welder and was known by family and friends to be a man who lived for being on the land, gardening, hunting, fishing, riding his bike and who loved his children and grandchildren,” police said Tuesday.
“Someone knows something about what happened and who killed Allan on that fateful night over six years ago.
“Allan’s death has been extremely hard on his family and community, and his children have had to go through the past six years without knowing what happened to their father.
“Allan has not been forgotten, and police are continuing their investigation into his death.”
The police said they are actively using all available resources to find the person responsible.
Anyone with knowledge about Waugh’s murder is asked to come forward.
“Allan’s family deserves closure after all this time,” police said.
The Yukon RCMP’s Historical Case Unit works across the territory on historical, suspicious deaths and historic homicides.
Anyone with information about this unsolved crime is asked to contact the unit at 667-5500 or email it at mdiv_hcu@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.

"The code of silence". Leave it in the cold files until someone makes a death bed confession.
