I have recently retuned from Washington, D.C., where Melissa Mathession-Frost and I were participating in the grassroots lobby effort to permanently protect the coastal plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and the core calving grounds of the Porcupine caribou herd from possible future oil development.
