Trudeau to visit Whitehorse

COMING SATURDAY Canada's new Prime Minister

COMING SATURDAY Canada's new Prime Minister will make a flying visit to Whitehorse this weekend, arriving at three p.m. Saturday and leaving at 6:30 for Yellowknife, NWT. This first visit by a Canadian prime minister during an election campaign is tied in with Mr. Trudeau's itinerary which includes Edmonton, and Vancouver this weekend. He will meet with Commissioner James Smith, members of Territorial Council and municipal officials to discuss the main problems of the Yukon, and is particularly interested as Minister of Justice, in the request directed to him this winter by Yukon Council for increased autonomy. A public reception will be held at 4:00 p.m. at F.H. Collins School. Mr. Trudeau will be accompanied by the Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, Arthur Laing.
