YES Jets, Air North one step closer to rec finals

The YES Jets won their “A” division game Monday to move onto the semi-finals with a 6-2 win over Narrow Gauge Contracting on Monday.
The Jets’ Willie Ben pushed the score over Narrow Gauge with a hat trick, also adding two assists for his team.
Darcey Carlick chipped in a goal and added two assists for the Jets to further move the score out of reach.
Neil Allison followed with two more goals and the game was set for the Jets.
Also adding assists were Mike Sage, who helped out on two goals, and Jonathan Osborne, Geoff Quinsey, Adam Schellenberg and Kris King earned an assist each.
For Narrow Gauge, Tim Hogan had one of the two goals of the game for the team, also adding an assist.
Dan MacDonald had the second and final goal.
Scott MacDonald, Milo Jordan and Fletcher DeGraff had an assist each in the playoff game, but it wasn’t enough to lift their team to a win over the YES Jets.
Air North/Cinderwood and Boston Pizza/Atco faced off as well to decide the semi-final match.
Air North downed Boston Pizza 5-3 in the game to move onto the final against the Jets.
Air North took a steady lead of 2-1 in the first period and held onto it to overcome Boston Pizza.
Ryan Gleason was the top scorer for Air North, chipping in two goals and adding an assist.
Kirk Gale had a goal and an assist to add to Air Noth’s goal tally.
Curt Campbell and Jaxon Glass had a goal apiece as well.
Frank Aucoin helped out for his team on two goals, and Jay Glass and Ryan Kinney each had an assist.
Boston Pizza/Atco got on the score board with a goal and an assist each from Barry Bilsner and Lance Brown.
Derek Johnstone also pitched in a goal to help his team challenge Air North, but it wasn’t enough to take the game.
Jay Massie and Jamie Edzerza each added an assist.
After the Monday night games, the YES Jets and Air North/Cinderwood will play each other in game three Thursday night.
The winner of that game will go on to the finals Sunday against Yukon Appliance, who have already clinched a finals birth.
Also being played this week is the “B” division finals.
