By the way, is that not a pellet gun 3rd from the bottom in the picture?  Not sure I’d consider that a “weapon”.

That’s the way to do it!  Coke, crack, oxy, at least there was no meth, but these are the people who need to be eliminated from our community.  Now let’s hope the courts do their job and throw them in jail for a long time.  Good work.

Alright….I get it….sell some drugs and have some super cool weapons. Then get arrested and then let go within hours so you can start over again….sell some drugs, buy more weapons and then get arrested again. Hmmm, maybe I should quit my day job. Doesn’t sound so bad if the money is good.

It’s scary knowing that this happened just down the street from my house. I live on sandpiper as well, and the fact that something this huge was going on so close to home, and so close to so many little children and families its terrifying. I hope the RCMP continue the good work and continue to come down hard on drug trafficking in our community.

I too am happy at the seizure considering who the individuals happen to be. But could the RCMP and the WhseStar please stop with the BS sensationalism?
That rifle is not an “assault style” anything. It is an SKS45 designed in 1945, is semiautomatic, loaded with stripper clips (meaning no detachable magazine), 10 shot capacity (5 legal capacity) and has a Tapco stock bought at any gun store.
Calling it an “assault style” gun only makes the RCMP look foolish and out to sway the opinion of an unknowing public with sensationalism.

We expect more from the RCMP…not to see them engaging in what lobby groups and political pundits do.

WHO CARES!!!!

One again the war on drugs wins again. Sigh all this really does is open up the market for someone else to deal drugs. There is certainly a lot more cocaine in this town than what was found and we haven’t really solved anyones problems. I guess at least some guns are off the streets now..

YukonJack:  If you don’t care then leave the details to those that do.  Getting the address, weapons and numbers of, amounts and kinds of drugs seized are important details.  I personally would like to know if drug houses in my neighborhood are fortified with pellet guns or arsenals that include things a little more serious…and lethal.  If details are not your business then mind your own business.

Making an impact? On what? A bust like this seems to imply they have magically got people off drugs for good. Until these RCMP just admit the whole drug war is nothing short of job security. Who are you really protecting by busting dealers? I could write all day, but the only thing I keep hearing over and over in my head is “Job Security” It’s a war that will never be won. You can’t legislate free will. And you wreck more life’s and family’s by giving someone jail time or a criminal record than a bag of weed would ever do. Just admit I’m right.

Nobody is going to admit you are right when you’re so wrong.  People who make a living off of other people’s addictions are lowlifes and deserve a record and jail time..period.  If this is their chosen career then that’s their choice and they are to blame for wrecking “life’s and family’s”.  Weed might be relatively harmless, but as is often the case, along with that goes the cocaine, crack, and oxycontin that they also found here…about a block away from a public school and in a neighborhood otherwise inhabited by good people.

I am sure Sandpiper/Arkell is happy to see their friendly neighborhood hard-drug dealers hauled out of there. But…
Look at the time and resources involved, to get the bad guys - months of investigation, court time, lawyers, jail space and resources. Dealer competitors picked up the slack the second the arrest was made.

In 2001, Portugal abolished criminal penalties for PERSONAL possession of drugs; i.e. marijuana, cocaine, heroin, meth, etc, and drug use/HIV dropped among kids and teen, as well as yielding other benefits.

I’m glad to see hard, drug dealers off the street, but it’s a war that will never end.  Bring it to the surface so we can manage it efficiently and effectively. Less users = less dealers.

As far as pot goes, I don’t smoke it, but it seems absurd to tie up the court system with people who do. Richard Branson Ted Turner, Stephen King, all admittedly smoke pot, and they seem fairly productive.

As far as what type of guns were found….who cares! A gun is a gun….I’m pretty sure if you have one shoved in your face you aren’t going to analyze what type of gun it is…your probably going to do what the hell you are told.

So I guess all the bars and off sales as well as convenience stores should go to jail and have a record for making a living selling alcohol and cigarettes to people. After all they’re drugs as well. Just legal ones. Not to mention all the legal prescription drugs that people are addicted to.

I, for one, will NOT pat the RCMP on the back for any drug bust and confiscation of hunting rifles. I don’t see a single handgun on that table. Nor do the small amounts of drugs and money confiscated indicate a crime ring.

Until drugs are decriminalized the high profits will continue to encourage all kinds of crime and violence. Prohibition has never worked, anywhere. If in doubt, a history lesson will clarify the issue.

Once decriminalized, it is much easier to control who gets access to drugs and to generate profits from taxation that can be used in a myriad of beneficial socio-economic ways. In a short time, criminals get out of the drug business because there are is no longer any profit to be made. When prices are controlled, addicts no longer have to engage in crime to support their habits. Addiction rates do not rise because research shows that addiction is not CAUSED by drugs.

Win win all around.

brian:  Unfortunately selling alcohol to alcoholics is not against the law but likely pretty lucrative…but if there was a way to control that I’d be up for it.  Quite right about prescription durgs too.  That said, bars, restaurants, off-sales are legal establishments but I think they go off side when they sell to inebriated or addicted individuals…the latter issue is a tough one to control.
