Teammates pull their weight at Oldtimers tournament
The Whitehorse Oldtimers Hockey League had three divisions to their tournament this weekend, and each final was just as exciting as the last.

In the group “A” final, The Roadhouse Rats snuck past the Whitehorse Ancients in a 6-3 final.
After the first period, the Rats led the game 2-1.
After the first two minutes of the second, the Rats had pushed ahead to 3-2.
Midway through the second period, the Rats powered ahead adding two quick goals that set the Ancients firmly behind them.
Darrell Sturko led the scoring for the Rats, adding four goals to push his team over the Ancients.
Sturko also added an assist.
Also scoring for the Rats was Elgin Schwantz, who pitched in a goal.
Bill Greenway was the final team member to get on the scoreboard, with a goal and three assists.
The Ancients’ Dennis Connelly did his best to keep up with the Rats, tossing in two goals for the team.
Chad Cowan had the other goal for the Ancients, and Jim Giczi added an assist.
The group “C” final was a high scoring affair that saw the Tuesday Oldtimers overtake the Friday Oldtimers by a lead of three goals.
The game started off with Tuesday leading 3-1 after the first period. It seemed the team had it in the bag, but Friday was not ready to give up.
Friday came back with a vengeance in the second and tied it up 4-4.
Three goals were scored quickly between the two teams and the score shot up to 6-5 for Tuesday.
Tuesday added a pair of last minute goals in the final eight minutes of the game to seal the win.
Bryan Craven and Hector Campbell tied as top scorers, with two goals and an assist each for Tuesday.
They were matched by Friday’s Darren Leas who also had two goals and an assist for his team.
Norm Barricello, Terry Bergen, Dave Brekke and Dan Otterbein added a goal each to help Tuesday.
Marcel Barrault was in the right place at the right time for much of the game, adding four assists in the two periods.
For Friday, Dan Pearson had a goal to keep his team in the running. Greg and Chris Lane also added a goal each, but it just wasn’t enough to push Friday over Tuesday.
The tournament featured 11 teams overall in the three divisions. League president Bernie Adilman dubbed the weekend a success.
Regular play in the Whitehorse Oldtimers Hockey League now resumes after the weekend break for the tournament tonight with Kilrich taking on the Firth Rangers at 8:15 p.m..
The Edgewater Hotel will be playing Medicine Chest at 9:45 p.m. Both games will be played at Takhini Arena.
Playoffs will begin March 21, and will run into April, with the final game scheduled for April 7.
