With only three days to go until the start of the Yukon Quest 1,000 Mile International Sled Dog Race, the action has shifted into high gear.

Besides the week-long festivities of QuestFest – including presentations and film screenings at the Old Fire Hall – the 26 mushers slated to run the race to Fairbanks have arrived in the Yukon capital.

Tonight from 6:30 to 10 p.m., the public is invited to a Meet the Mushers event at Mount McIntyre.

Besides getting an autograph from your favourite mushers, you can have a drink with fellow supporters, meet Quest staff and volunteers, and witness the bib draw for the YQ300 race.

Tomorrow, the Quest will hold its Start and Draw Banquet at the Yukon Convention Centre, beginning at 5 p.m.

Tickets, which are $75, will include a full buffet, entertainment, music, and another opportunity to meet the mushers. Fans are invited to come and see who will draw for the first race position.

Tickets are on sale now at the Whitehorse Yukon Quest office at the White Pass Depot building on First Ave. Call 668-4711 for details.

The Yukon Quest will begin Saturday in Shipyards Park, with the first musher leaving at 10 a.m.
