City staff are recommending council move ahead with second and third readings of the zoning amendment that would allow Icy Waters Ltd. to move ahead with its plans for a country residential development off Fish Lake Road.
City staff are recommending council move ahead with second and third readings of the zoning amendment that would allow Icy Waters Ltd. to move ahead with its plans for a country residential development off Fish Lake Road.
At Monday’s city council meeting, members were presented with an administrative report on the public hearing held late last month.
The project would see six properties developed over 11 hectares on land Icy Waters owns next to its fish farm.
The report points to the 24 letters all in support of the project, including one from Icy Waters.
“The proponent has met with the Friends of McIntyre Creek, the Porter Creek Community Association, the Yukon Conservation Society, the Kwanlin Dun First Nation and the Klondike Snowmobile Association regarding this project,” reads the public hearing report presented by planning manager Mike Gau.
“All concerns have been addressed through the previous OCP (Official Community Plan) amendment process and the outstanding issues will be dealt with at the development permit stage.”
Those other issues will include the Public Use Land Dedication requiring 10 per cent of the land or cash-in-lieu at 10 per cent of the land’s value to go to land for everyone’s use.
At an earlier meeting, Icy Waters’ vice-president, Jonathon Lucas, said the business is willing to turn over a section of land for public use that could include hiking trails.
That would be looked at further during the subdivison process.
