The Whitehorse Oldtimers Hockey League continued its stretch run this past week, with games last Wednesday, Friday, Sunday and Monday. Three more games were played yesterday and four more will face off tonight. The Star will have the results from yesterday's and today's game in tomorrow's paper.
Monday March 21
Team owner Pat Tobler deflected home a dandy pass from Pete Johnston with only 3:08 on the clock to help EDI earn a 3-3 tie with Yukon Inn in Whitehorse Oldtimers hockey action Monday night at the Canada Games Centre. Myles Dolphin (on a nifty end-to-end effort) and Johnson scored the other for EDI. Blaine Demchuk, Laurie Malo and Walt Liley replied for the Inn.
Sunday March 20
Tim Hortons 9 Air North 1
Mike Gau and Chris Nash each served up hat tricks for Tim's, and Mike Blower, Lorne Burnett and Doug Terry each netted one. For the shorthanded Flyers, Derek Bilodeau was the goalscorer.
Friday March 18
Yukon Inn 8 Kilrich 7
Liley scored with one second left on the game clock to lift Yukon Inn to a crazy 8-7 win over Kilrich at the Canada Games Centre. The Inn guys scored three times in the final 3:16 to snatch away the victory. Liley added another, Jeff Jensen and Malo each added two as well, and Kevin Johnstone and Gary MacKellar added one apiece. Scott Palfreyman nailed four goals for Kilrich, and Sean MacLeish, Rick Moses and Darryl Cann each potted one.
Wednesday March 16
Tim Hortons 6 EDI 5
In another wild game, the Timbits jumped out to a 6-1 first period lead and then staved off a ferocious EDI comeback to secure the win. Chris Nash led the coffee crew with a pair of goals, and single cookies came from Bernie Adilman, Mike Blower, Pat Shaw and Gau. Dolphin played swimmingly, tallying two for EDI, and solo markers were collected by Johnson, Nathan Bingham and George Maratos.
