WOHL wrap: Clark picks up where he left off; Adilman nets first hatty

The Whitehorse Oldtimers Hockey League is back in action. Here are the results since the break:

Sunday Feb. 20

Kilrich 4, Tim Hortons 0

Darryl Cann earned the shutout as he backstopped Kilrich to a win over Tim Hortons in Whitehorse Oldtimers hockey action Sunday at Takhini Arena. GM Sean MacLeish, Scott Palfreyman, Wade Harrison and Chris Lane hammered in goals for the builders.

Firth 8, Yukon Inn 6

Firth strengthened their hold on first place in the standings with a wild 8-6 win over second place Yukon Inn. It was Nate Clark leading the way again in victory as he scored twice and set up two others. Chris Carli also netted a pair for the boys in blue, and solo shots came off the sticks of Ben Kielb, Marcel Barrault, Shawn Kinsella and Duane Purych.

For the Inn, it was Kevin Johnstone with the hat trick, Kevin Topping with two markers, and one goal from George Morgan.

Capri CMW 5, EDI 2

Joel Witten led by example with a pair of goals for the guys in neon green, and single tallies came from Greg Lane, Al Hansen and Arlo O'Riordan.

Brian Currie and Scott Olafson replied for EDI.

Medicine Chest 5, Air North 5

Colin Nash filled in a cavity in the Air North net with less than three minutes remaining to help the Chest earn the tie. Gus Morberg popped in a pair, and Gerry Brandt and Michael Svoboda rounded out the pharmacy scoring.

For the airmen, it was Peter Mostyn and Kerry Pettitt each with two, and Rick Gingell with the other.

Wednesday Feb. 23

Medicine Chest 9, EDI 3

Gus Morberg and Colin Nash continued their torrid scoring paces with a couple of markers each in victory, and solo efforts came from Ken Vickerman, Bill Bohmer, Eric Chalmers, Michael Svoboda and Gerry Brandt. Peter Johnston, Ron Cruikshank and George Maratos replied for EDI.

Kilrich 2, Yukon Inn 1

Stu MacMillan's first goal of the season proved to be the winner as the builders bounced the Inn in a dandy, hard-fought game. Rick Moses scored the other for Kilrich, and Erik von Flotow replied in defeat.

Thursday Feb. 24

Greg was in the fast Lane on Thursday night as he scored twice and added three assists to lead CapriCMW to a 6-4 upset win over first place Firth in Whitehorse Oldtimers hockey action at Takhini Arena. Joel Witten added a pair in the win, and Al Hanson got the other. Nate Clark added to his league leading points total with three goals in the loss, and Ben Kielb got the other.

Tim Hortons 9, Air North 4

Also Thursday, Bernie Adilman scored the first hat trick of his lengthy Oldtimers career to pace Tims to victory. Chris Nash added a pair of markers, Willy McKenna added one and three apples, and Doug Terry, Mike Gau and Pat Shaw rounded out the scoring. For Air North, it was Garrett Kuptana, George Skookum, Bernie Heffner and Dustin Heffner piloting in goals.

Sunday Feb. 27

Pat Tobler's conditioning stint at his team's farm team in Snag paid dividends Sunday as he scored twice upon his return to lead EDI to a 5-3 upset win over Yukon Inn in Whitehorse Oldtimers hockey action at Takhini Arena. Clint Ireland, Nathan Bingham and Dale Gray also tallied in the win, and Gary McKellar, Rob Green and Kevin Topping replied for the Inn mates.

Medicine Chest 4, Kilrich 2

Colin Nash scored the game winner midway through the second period and Gerry Brandt sealed the deal with a empty netter to pace the Chest. Ken Vickerman and Eric Chalmers also scored in the win. Scott Palfreyman and Carl Cibart connected for Kilrich.

Firth 4, Tim Hortons 3

Chris Carli scored the winner on a power play with 10 minutes left in the game, and Firth withstood a furious Tims comeback in the battle for first place. Ben Kielb, Doug Cote and Peter Kirby also got goals in victory. Mike Gau, Chris Nash and Pat Shaw replied for the Timbits.

Air North 4, CapriCMW 4

Dustin Heffner scored three times and added a helper for Air North in the saw-off. Garrett Kuptana got the fourth Air goal. Four different marksmen connected for Capri - Alfred Feldman, Ben Campbell, Al Hansen and Greg Lane.

According to the league website, TA Firth leads the standings with 38 points (19-6) in 25 games. Tim Hortons is a close second with 35 points (17-7-1) in 25 games. Yukon Inn rounds out the top three with 33 points (15-7-3), also in 25 games.

Nate Clark of Firth continues to be the top scorer, with 63 points (32 goals, 31 assists) in a paltry 19 games. Willy Mckenna of Tims is next with 49 points (21 goals, 28 assists) in only 20 games. Greg Lane of CapriCMW stays in the fast lane in third with 44 points (21 goals, 23 assists) in 24 games.

Among goalies, Glen Traverse leads regular team goalies with a 2.88 Goals Against Average, while Jim Antonissen steadfastly maintains his hold on second with a 3.12 GAA. Paul Husband of TA Firth rounds out the top-three with a 3.94 GAA.

Traverse leads in goalie wins with 17, followed by Antonissen with 15 and Husband with 13 victories.
