Tim Hortons held off a furious last-minute rally as they hung on to edge Medicine Chest 6-4 in Whitehorse Oldtimers hockey action at Takhini Arena Sunday. Dave Wipf scored two, including an empty netter, and other Timbits to tally were Lorne Burnett, Matt Johnson, Chris Nash and Doug Terry. Shawn Kinsella netted a hat trick in defeat, and Rick Smith also scored.

Capri CMW 4, Yukon Inn 4

Garrett Kuptana scored with under five minutes remaining to earn Capri the tie with league-leading Yukon Inn. Scott Palfreyman powered in a pair for Capri, and Michael Svoboda pumped in one. For the Inn, four different snipers connected - Geordan Clark, Gerry Brandt, Reggie Laguerre and Willy McKenna.

Firth Rangers 8 Kilrich 3

Frank Aucoin was in on all but one of the Firth goals (two goals, five assists), Ryan Martin and Duane Purych each potted a pair, and singles came off the sticks of Michel Dubois and Jeremy Germaine. Ben Kielb nailed two in defeat, and Doug Cote hammered in the other.

Thursday

Two nail-biters had the raucous crowd on the edge of their seats, as Kilrich edged Medicine Chest 6-5, and Tim Hortons hung on to beat Titanium Storage 7-5.

Kilrich 6 Medicine Chest 5

Defenceman Carl ‘Brewer’ Cibart burst up the ice and lasered home a shot with less than a second on the clock to give Kilrich the exciting win. Cibart’s goal came only 17 seconds after MC’s Rick Smith had scored with the goalie pulled to tie the game. GM Sean McLeish, Steve Arrell, Ron Daub, Anthony Grottoli (a shorty) and Doug Cote also scored for the constructors. Smith added a second goal for the pharmacy fellows, and Derek Bilodeau, Ben Campbell and Kevin Topping also connected.

Tim Hortons 7 Titanium Storage 5

Dave Wipf scored twice for Tims, as they held off a frenetic rally by Titanium. The Storage skaters scored three times in 45 seconds late in the game to almost erase a 6-2 deficit, but Chris Nash’s empty-netter dashed their comeback hopes. Matt Johnson, Lorne Burnett, Chris Lane and team owner Doug Terry also stirred in goals for the coffee mates. Russ McDiarmid and Tyson Wirth each potted two in defeat, and Mark Pike (on a sick deke) added the other.

Wednesday

CapriCMW 3 Air North 2 Garrett Kuptana scored midway through the final period to lift Capri to the close victory. Mike Gau and Scott Palfreyman also connected for Capri. Scott Olafson and Dave Bakica, with a wicked wrister top shelf, replied for Air North.

Firth 2 EDI 2

Frank Aucoin collected his league-leading 32nd goal of the season to help Firth earn the tie against a stingy EDI defence. Aucoin also set up George Morgan’s goal on a nifty feed to account for the Firth scoring. Kevin Johnstone buried two goals for EDI.
