Forty-four was the lucky number for Titanium Storage on Sunday in Whitehorse Oldtimers hockey action.

Blaine ‘Bubba’ Demchuk, donning sweater number 44, scored with 44 seconds left on the clock to give Titanium a thrilling 7-6 win over Kilrich at Takhini Arena. The winner was his lucky 13th of the season, and it complemented Chris Carli’s three goals, Josh Savill’s deuce and Dale Grey’s single marker. Arlo O’Riordan hammered home two for Kilrich, and Anthony Grottoli, Steve Arrell, Ron Cruikshank and Dermott Flynn (1st of the season!) nailed goals as well.

CapriCMW 7, Tim Hortons 3

Scott Palfreyman, Ron Billingsley and Martin O’Hagan (!!) each scored twice to pace CMW over the coffee collection, while Michael Svoboda added the other. Mike Blower buried a pair for Tims, and Chris Lane potted one.

EDI 5, Medicine Chest 3

Dustin Heffner fired home two for EDI, and Greg Charlie (empty-netter), Al Hansen and Ty Heffner sniped one each. Chest contributors were Derek Bilodeau with a pair and Nate Clark with one.

Yukon Inn 4, Air North 1

As per usual, the Inn used a well balanced attack to down the Jets. Gary McKellar, Willy McKenna, Joel Witten and Brad Hameister scored in victory. George Maratos replied for the air crew.

Thursday

Kilrich 7, CapriCMW 4

Arlo O’Riordan o’reared his goal-scoring prowess with a hat trick to lead the yellow jackets to victory. Carl Cibart’s sizzling run continued with a pair of goals, and Ben Kielb and Anthony Grottoli also added scores. For Capri, it was Garrett Kuptana, Scott Palfreyman, Ron Billingsley and Martin O’Hagan (!!) with goals.

EDI 3, Titanium Storage 1

Gus Morberg, Rick Gingell and Dustin Heffner supplied the offence for EDI in this tight-checking affair. Chris Carli replied for Titanium, who got stellar goaltending from Eugene Johnson.

Wednesday

Yukon Inn 6, Tim Hortons 5

Willy McKenna scored the winner on a breakaway with only a minute remaining in the game to win it for the Inn. McKenna added two others for the hatty, and Geordan Clark, Joel Witten and Tom Ullyett rounded out the scoring. Mike Blower sniped three past a struggling Glen Traverse in the Inn net, and Bernie Adilman and Chris Nash netted one apiece for Tims.

Firth 4, Medicine Chest 3

Frank Aucoin’s league-leading 50th goal of the season (wowsers) proved to be the winner in this dandy contest. Michel Dubois, Alfred Feldman and Colin Nash chipped in a marker each for Firth. Shawn Kinsella, Kevin Topping and Nate Clark popped in one each for MC.

Jim Antonissen cooked up his first donut of the season as he backstopped Tim Hortons to a 6-0 blanking of Air North in Whitehorse Oldtimers hockey action Sunday night at Takhini Arena.

Firth 12, Titanium Storage 2

Frank Aucoin once again led the charge for the Rangers with five goals.

Thursday

Firth 5, CapriCMW 3

Peter Johnston was Firth’s chief contributor in the win as he scored two goals in a 28-second span in the first period.

Yukon Inn 6, EDI 5

Gerry Brandt and Geordan Clark each potted two in the triumph, as the Inn withstood a late charge by EDI.

Wednesday

Medicine Chest 9,
Titanium Storage 5

Kevin Topping scored the Chest’s first four goals (including an Old Stats Inc. -verified record of three on the same shift!) to lead the victors.

Kilrich 4 Air North 3

Anthony Grottoli’s goal midway through the final period gave Kilrich the win in a spirited game.
