The Medicine Chest mounted a tremendous comeback against Kilrich in the Whitehorse Oldtimer’s Hockey League Wednesday at Takhini Arena. Unfortunately, there were no games Sunday, as the Zamboni at Takhini Arena broke down.
Wednesday
Medicine Chest 6, Kilrich 6
Medicine Chest staged an epic comeback in Whitehorse Oldtimers hockey action Wednesday night at Takhini arena. Trailing 6-1 with 12:27 left in the game, the teal team rattled off five straight goals to earn a tie with Kilirch. According to the Carmacks-based analytics firm OldStats Inc, this is one of the biggest comebacks in oldtimers history.
Newcomer Eric Chalmers scored his first oldie goal with 1:14 remaining to cement the tie. Geordan Clark added two markers for MC, and singles came from Wade Hanna, Martin Lawrie and Gerry Brandt. Anthony Grottoli hammered home a pair for Kilrich, and Scott Palfreyman, Dermot Flynn, Johnny Sembsmoen and Chris Lane each nailed one.
Air North 5, CapriCMW 4
Also Wednesday, Kerry Pettitt scored his second goal of the game late in the final frame to propel Air North past CapriCMW. Bernie Heffner, Ty Heffner and Derek Bilodeau also netted goals for Kilrich. Greg Lane popped a pair in defeat, and Ed van Randen and Arlo O’Riordan rounded out the Capri scoring.
Thursday
Tim Hortons 7, Firth 1
Willy McKenna vaulted into second place in league scoring with two goals and an assist to pace Tims. Ryan Martin also poured in a pair, and single shots came from Mike Gau, Stu Mackay and Chris Nash. Marcel Barrault spoiled the shutout with a late goal for Firth.
Yukon Inn 8, EDI 2
Erik ‘The Red’ von Flotow raided the EDI net with two markers, as did Kevin Topping. Other Inn goals came from Gark McKellar, Rob Green, Steve Arrell and Laurie Malo. Myles Dolphin and George Maratos replied for EDI.
