Keith Welch is finding captaincy a lot easier the second time round, as his team Driving Force rolled over Klondike Office Systems 7-5 in the opening game of the Whitehorse Rapids over 35’s league.

Welch was thankful of Jesse Koheller and his scoring ability, as he picked up a hat trick that knocked the stuffing out of a Mark Chandlerless KOS.

Koheller was helped by a Graham Sim and Roger Hoskin double as every attack that Driving Force mounted seemed to end in a score. This was due to the sharpness of the Driving Force strikers and that George Maratos in the KOS net had the kind of performance that you hope you have only once in a career and was utterly helpless to stop any shots.

Maratos’s son was watching the game and must have wished he was playing instead of his Dad.

Andy Todd’s two, Matt Davidson, Warren Pearson and a screamer from Leonard Linklater rounded out the scoring for the Canaries.

Peerless Hume fires
Yukoninfo.com home

Miles Hume has decided that if he scores enough goals his team will always win, and the way his side are playing they look like they will never be beaten.

Hume picked up a quad of goals, as he led from the front earning his side Yukoninfo.com a 6-5 win over reigning champions Air North.

Hume has already got six goals for the season, as he puts down an early marker for Justin Carre’s golden boot crown.

Tebogo and River Walton assisted Hume with two nice goals.

It is not all doom and gloom for Air North, as they were missing their inspirational captain Iain Breckridge, who has been away topping up his tan.

They have a solid team with alot of talent. This was exemplified by the two goals that Justin Carre scored, and singles by Ale Pulido, Carlos Astorquiza and sub Marcelo Gortari.

Next week will see whether Air North can bounce back to win, and if Yukononfo.com can maintain their 100 per cent start to the league campaign.

Pepsi smack sorry Chieftain

Pepsi were in the mood for goals, as they put eight past Chieftain.

This game was as one sided as it sounds from the word go, as Pepsi attacked with relish.

Frankin Fru loves to score goals and he was in his element banging in three goals and was dangerous everytime he was on the ball.

Will Chetcuti scored a sumpious back heel, while Jon Hawkins added two, plus an own goal and a first of the season for Adil Khalik sealed the win for Pepsi.

Non-playing captain Danny Macdonald will be pleased with the performance as everyone contributed to the teams’ success.

Chieftain did get a goal through sub-River Walton, but they were up against it without Matthias Hartman and Hector Lang. They never gave up, but they were missing the spark they needed to worry Pepsi.

The season will be a long one if they don’t find a way to score goals, but in skipper Kruno Kunovic they have a man who has one of the greatest sporting brains the soccer community has ever known and he will find a way.
