The result of the game between the current leaders Klondike Business Solutions and second place Driving Force may have decided who will be lifting the league trophy up at the end of the season.

On Saturday, Keith Welch’s side knocked the wind out of the KOS sails with a 5-2 win that showcased their talents.

The Driving Force defence of the two Keiths, Maguire and Welch, were supreme. Using their speed to limit the space KOS had in their half were magnificent.

The game was neatly poised at 2-2 when captain Keith Welch was heard to say “we need someone to put the ball away.” Deciding to take responsibility himself, Welch wandered up front and scored two expertly taken goals to take the game out of reach of KOS.

From there Sandy Gross began pulling the strings in midfield and although he didn’t score, his passing led to goals for teammates Roger Hoskin and Graham Sim.

Keith Magiuire got the other Driving Force goal, while subs Pete Mather and Andy Todd got the KOS goals.

Peart a god among men

Ed Peart was asked by Ridley Scott to be the body double for the new Gladiator movie; he turned the role down, but showed the world what they missed out on with a gladitorial performance of his own.

Peart was phenomenal; he defended like a lion, and led his Air North Rangers to a remarkable comeback victory with his first two goals in the league, as they won 4-2 over Yukoninfo.com.

Yukononfo.com started the game with the intent to destroy their opposition, scoring two goals in quick succession, and threatening to blow the opposition away, with Mike Zuccarini and Ash Jordan scoring.

Air North dug in, weathered the storm and started making inroads into the Yukoninfo.com defence.

Peart grabbed his two goals and was supported by Carlos Astorquiza, who picked up his eighth goal of the campaign.

Although Yukoninfo battled hard to get back into the game they eventually ran out of time and luck as Justin Carre scored on a quick counter-attack as Info tried to equalize.

Khalik scores hat trick to bring Pepsi back in from the cold

Adil Khalik is a legend in the league, and although he is one of the more experienced players, he still demands the respect from all the other teams.

His treble was the difference between the sides as Pepsi ran out 5-2 winners over Chieftain.

The game may have had a different outcome if Fabian Glyka’s penalty had not been saved by Stu Knack in the Pepsi goal. If he scored it would have made it 2-1 to Chieftain, but Pepsi went up the pitch and scored in a dramatic turnaround.

From this point Pepsi were able to control the game, with Khalik the spearpoint of their attacks.

Perhaps the best goal of the season was scored by Pepsi’s David Rayo. He received the ball with his back to goal, turned his defender inside out, then dribbled past two more players before stroking the ball into the back of the net.

A truly wonderful goal.

Franklin Fru scored again for Pepsi to round out the scoring for his team.

Guliano Rayo and Fabian Glyka picked up the goals for Chieftain.

The win takes Pepsi to within one point of the leaders.
