Walton is sailing the River of Dreams

River Walton could be the nicest man in the Yukon,

River Walton could be the nicest man in the Yukon, if not the world, and the way he played on Saturday he will be finding more friends than he knows what to do with.

His Air North Rangers team dismantled Driving Force 4-0.

The early morning game in the over-35’s soccer league saw Driving Force struggling to contain a vibrant Walton who scored his first hat trick in the league.

Walton always seemed to be the extra man in attack as he arrives late into the opposition area with devestating effect.

Once Air North Rangers get ahead in a game it is very difficult for the opposing team to break them down, and this was evident on Saturday as the Force ran out of ideas, if not effort.

Driving Force have been unlucky not to pick up points on a few occasions this year, but this was not one of those occasions.

However they must feel aggrieved to let Mark O Brien score, who is playing with reduced mobility, skill and stamina this season.

Skipper Keith Welch is hoping for a change of fortune next week and perhaps an alarm call to Jesse Koeller will encourage him to be on time.

Subs are the difference
for Yukon Brewing

Yukon Brewing picked up Jesse Koeller and Criag Caldwell as replacements for co-captains Jason Steele and Derek Funk, who were away auditioning for the next season of Love Island.

Both subs scored to ease the Brew to a 2-1 win over Klondike Business Solutions.

In a game where both teams struggled for any rhythm, goals were going to be at a premium.

There was a lot of effort from the two teams, but neither side was going to dominate the other.

Chance played a part in Caldwell’s goal, as a clearence hit him and floated over hapless Alejandro Pulido in the KBS goal.

For KBS, they’re hoping their luck will have to change at some stage in the season.

But even as the pressure builds, Captain Phil Jackson knows that he can rely on himself to score goals as he picked up yet another goal for his team.

With Chieftain not playing, Yukon Brewing closed the gap at the top of the league and will look to kick on for a chance of the title.

Adil Khalik lightning strike secures
a point for Yukoninfo.com

Adil Khalik put in a huge shift for his team and was rewarded with a superb goal to share the spoils in the game between Yukoninfo.com and Pepsi, which finished 3-3.

Justin Carre got the first goal of the game for Yukoninfo, but after that it was all Pepsi as they played with confidence.

Graham White, playing in his first game of the season, scored the equilizer with a powerful drive, and when Wil Chetcuti and Michael Zuccurini followed up with goals Pepsi were cruising to a second win in a row.

Then with less than five minutes left on the clock a bizarre set of events changed the outcome of the game.

Keeper Fabian Glyka decided that he was bored being in goal and wandered out of his net only for Brian ‘the bulldog’ Bruckman to smash home a goal from the halfway line.

Then with time going into an overdraft, Khalik walloped in a goal that nobody watching would have expected.

It was a cruel blow for Cirian Connolly’s men who had really played well in containing superstars Carre and Matthias Hartmann.
