Chris Stacey scored three memorable goals to secure a hard-fought 6-3 victory and the league title for Klondike Business Solutions Saturday morning.

Stacey’s club toppled Quest Computers at the Canada Games Centre in a thrilling playoff final in the over-35 soccer league.

The first half was a cagey affair with not many chances, but a lot of endeavour. Charlie Hoeller snuffed out any threat from Quest, and KBS’s Bruno Bourdache opened the scoring.

Quest’s Andy Todd would equalize, and then his club was thrown a lifeline by Yukon Soccer Association head coach John MacPhail when he missed a penalty for KBS.

The first half ended even with both teams looking for a hero.

Up stepped Stacey. He put in a blockbuster display, blowing away Quest’s resistance to strike three times.

While Todd and Jim Connell got second-half goals for Quest, David Rayo and Arnold Hedstrom also scored in the second half to lift the cup for KBS.

Earlier Saturday, the bronze medal match ended with a 2-1 victory for Pepsi over Yukon Brewing.

Pat Shaw and Mark O’Brien got on the scoresheet for Pepsi while David Strachan replied for Brew.

At the awards ceremony, Danny Macdonald was named league MVP, Charlie McLeod took home the award for top keeper, Todd nabbed the spirit award, and Pierre-Luc Lafrance received the golden boot trophy.
