Val Shapoval was back playing his first game of the season and boy did it make a difference to his Driving Force team.

Shapoval scored a goal and was everywhere to help his team demolish high flying Air North Rangers 7-2.

The game was tight at half time with nothing to separate the two teams, but when Mark O Brien finally succumbed to the inevitable, (his body breaking down) Air North couldn’t replace his talent and went down quicker than the Titanic.

Driving Force were oozing forward, led by two-goal heroes, Jonathan Hawkins and Sandy Gross, blowing the joint leaders away.

Shapavol was short of match fitness, but it didn’t stop him giving everything he had.

For Air North, this was a wakeup call that they might have needed.

They have played well all season, built on hard work and discipline, but for some reason they lost these attributes and they suffered for it.

Other scorers were Chris Stacey and David Rayo for Driving Force and Franklin Fru for Air North.

Yukon Brewing toasts Funk

Derek Funk may not be the first name down on the team sheet, but he is making a name for himself as a scorer of great goals.

Again, he plundered two goals that was reminiscent of his look alike Lionel Messi, as his team ran out 2-1 winners against an unlucky Klondike Office Supplies team.

Funk has been the dark horse of the season.

He seems to be in the right place at the right time, whether this is through luck or design no one knows, but his goals are a surprise to everyone including himself.

This game was no different and what superb strikes they were, to maintain their lofty position in the league.

For KOS, skipper Phil Jackson was unavailable, so it was left to Justin Gross to take the fight to the opposition.

Gross was a constant threat and if he could shoot the result might have been different.

He got one, but missed a couple of one-on-ones with the keeper to leave his team still searching for their first win of the campaign.

Yukoninfo.com flay Pepsi

Yukonnfo.com have not been at their best all season long, but they put in an all-round performance that was simply breathtaking.

All their superstars turned up to the party and they rinsed poor Pepsi.

Leading the charge were hat trick boys Matthias Hartmann and Justin Carre, who have been the best double act since gravy and cheese curds, were put together as YukonInfo.com won 8-2 against Pepsi.

For all the attacking pedigree they have some dedicated defenders back in the engine room.

If there is a braver man than Andrzej Jablonski in the league, I would like to shake their hand.

He puts himself in danger every time in sets foot on the pitch, and when playing alongside Brian Bruckman it’s like the hammer and anvil.

The score would have been greater if Mikey Jones could shoot straight.

Other goals for Yukoninfo.com came from Andy Todd and a Cirian Connolly own goal.

Connolly managed to score for his own side, as did Fabian Glyka.
