Two Whitehorse Glacier Bears swimmers combined to break eight club records last weekend.

Eight local swimmers attended the SnowFest invitational meet in Kelowna, B.C., and two made a significant impact on the record books.

Adrian Robinson broke six club records, while Hannah Kingscote broke two very old records belonging to Yukon swim superstar Alexandra Gabor.

Kingscote earned new best times in both the 50 and 100 back, prompting Gabor to send a congratulatory letter her way, wishing the 12-year-old good luck for the rest of the season.

Robinson, meanwhile, set new club bests in the 50 and 100 free, 50 and 100 back, and 50 and 100 breast. The 14- year-old also cracked the B.C. AAA qualifying standards with each race.

In total, Yukoners were featured in 16 finals.

That number would have been higher, but the group had to leave the meet early on Sunday in order to catch their flight home, coach Malwina Bukszowana explained.

Medal winners included Kingscote (second in 100 back); Robinson (third in 50 free, second in 50 breast); Donovan Bielz (second in 200 free); and Thomas Bakica (third in 50 breast).

Other swimmers earning final appearances were Emma Boyd, Aidan Harvey and Luke Bakica.

Bukszowana praised the 12-year-old Harvey, who competed in his first 1,500-metre event.

He held a very even pace and finished with a negative split, revealing his potential as a long-distance man.

Meanwhile, 16-year-old Bielz shaved six seconds off his previous-best time in the 200 free final, and 12-year-old Boyd improved her 200 free swim by 19 seconds.
