KBS streamroll Yukon Brewing

Even though Klondike Business Solutions were missing their inspirational leader, Greg Grady, they peppered the Yukon Brewing goal throughout the game. Leading the way was Ash Jordan, who was in imperious form, banging in five goals in a 10-2 blowout. KBS was rampant throughout the game, although they were helped by Yukon Brewing’s need to close the ever-increasing lead that KBS were accumulating. Their tactic was simple: get the ball to Ash Jordan and he would score. There were times in the second half that James McCullough in the Brewing net was like King Canute, trying to stop the tide coming in. Jordan was aided by Creed “The Hunter” Swan (two goals), Hector Lang, Keith Maguire and Mark Wickham (one each).

Marcelo Gortari, as ever, was a threat when he got the ball, and he did score both the Brewing goals, but it was never going to be enough for them, as KBS tried to send a message to league leaders Yukoninfo.com by cutting their lead to four points before their game.

Carre in peerless form

Justin Carre was simply the best player on the pitch in Pepsi’s win over Air North Rangers. Carre scored all five goals as Pepsi beat Yukon Brewing 5-3. Sean Macdonald, in the Air North goal, was at fault for the first three goals, as Carre was in the right place at the right time to benefit from the keeper’s mistakes. Carre’s forth goal was a sublime header that no goalkeeper in the world could have done anything about.

Skipper Danny Macdonald was sporting his new Kiss tattoos; however they didn’t do anything to improve his luck, as every time he shot at the goal, it went everywhere except in the goal.

Air North had chances in the first half, but only sprang into life in the second, with Phil Jackson, Martin Farrow and Derek Funk all scoring to give Air North a lifeline.

It was left to Justin Carre again to calm Pepsi nerves as he rounded out the scoring for a 5-3 win that kept them joint second in the league and put Carre at top in the race for the Golden Boot.

Driving Force can’t stop Fru

The enforced break seemed to have left Franklin Fru hungry for some game time and that showed in a commanding performance from the big man. Yukoninfo.com required two wins from the last four games to clinch first. Driving Force have proved a hard team to beat all season, but Fru was so good that all nervousness was dispelled as Yukoninfo.com won the game 5-1. Yukoninfo’s game is based on hard work and knowing what their role in the side is. Fru’s is to create and score goals, while Gord Barker and Will Chetcuti’s job is to run tirelessly for the cause. They were like wolves running their prey to the ground, then picking apart the remains. Barker scored a nice goal into the corner, before Andrea Lurato got his first of the season. Eric Murphy, held together by glue and good will, picked up the final goal.

Driving Force were again bereft of many of their star players, and stuck to the task well, but were undone by a professional performance from Yukoninfo.com, who could claim the title next week if they beat last year’s champions, Air North Rangers.
