A beautiful sunny Wednesday evening brought 45 participants out to enjoy the bi-weekly Orienteering event.

Meet Directors Pam James and Joe Bradley set four courses on the Chadburn Lake map, starting from the parking lot just above Canyon City.

First in on the novice course were Liam Mather and Natalie who completed the 2.7 km in a time of 19:29 closely followed by Sam Mather and Katalyne in 20:36. Then Elias Sagar competing on his own finished with a time of 26:10.

The Intermediate course was the same length as the novice course but required the competitors to leave the trails. Finishing in a great time of 27:03 was Caelan McLean. Second was Georgi Pearson in 35:47 and then Wendy Taylor in 46:20.

The Short Advanced course covered 3.4 km and was quite challenging. Ross Burnett won in 38:56, with Pippa McNeil in second with time of 42:50, Justine Scheck finished next in a time of 56:00 Brent Langbakk finished the 6.3 km Advanced course in 53:07. Forest Pearson finished second in 69:31 and less than a minute behind him in 70:00 was Afan Jones.

Thanks also go to all the volunteers who helped out with registration and control pickup.

The next Wednesday night event is on Aug 18th on the Golden Horn map. Start time is 6:30 pm. For more info about orienteering and upcoming events, please visit www.yukonorienteering.ca
