Air North netminder Eugene Johnson won’t be getting any Christmas cards from Firth’s Devon Slade, as the goalie stoned the league’s leading goalscorer on numerous occasions to help his team earn a 2-2 tie in Whitehorse Oldtimers hockey action at Takhini Arena on Sunday. Slade did get both of the Rangers goals on Johnson, but was denied many, many more by the veteran goaler. Mike Jim got one for the fliers, and Ed van Randen sniped the game tying goal with a scant 1:40 on the clock.

EDI 4, Tim Hortons 2

Dan van der Linden lasered a top corner goal midway through the second period that proved to be the winner as EDI took over sole possession of first place in the league standings with the win. Derick Bilodeau, Vernon Asp and Dustin Heffner (empty netter) rounded out the scoring in this exciting match. Doug Terry continued his tear for his Tims team with one goal, and Chris Carli popped home the other.

Titanium Storage 5, CapriCMW 2

Derek Dee-lighted the crowd (well, the rink attendant) at Takhini with a pair of goals for the Titans, with singles coming from Chad Cowan, Scott Palfreyman and Carl Cibart. Capri counters came courtesy of Anthony Grottoli and Dave Bakica.

Yukon Inn 5, EDI 4

Rearguard Gary Gazankas galloped all over the ice to lead the Inn men with two goals. Brad Hameister, Mike Blower and Steve Arrell netted the others. EDI was led by league scoring leader Jamie Cairns’ two markers, wth solo successes from Mike Gau and John Pereira.

Thursday

Tim Hortons 7, Firth Rangers 3

Team CEO, CAO, COO, owner and President Doug Terry delivered the hat trick for his team, and Josh Savill, Adam O’Dell (with his initial goal of the season), Stu MacMillan and Dave Wipf added singles. Devon Slade, ho hum, scored all three for Firth.

EDI 11, Air North 3

Mervin Jacobsen collected the hatty, Jeremy Germaine and Mike Gau popped a pair each, and one each came off the twigs of Garrett Kuptana, Jamie Cairns, Geordan Clark and Scott Olafson. Ron Billingsley, Brian Currie and Mike Sage responded for the Jets.

Wednesday

Yukon Inn 6, Titanium Storage 6

Brad Hameister’s third goal of the game with 5:29 remaining gave YI the tie. Frank Aucoin, Adam Lightfoot and Al Hansen also scored. For the Titans, six skaters scored in a well-balanced attack - Kyle Rolling, Gary McKellar, Pierre Allard, Rick Moses, Lance Bevilacqua and Chad Cowan.

EDI 3, Kilrich 2

Jamie Cairns scored the winner with only 90 seconds left in the game in this tight affair. Derick Bilodeau got the other two for EDI, while d-men Daryl Berube and Duane Purych replied for the builder boys.
