Chieftain were odds on favourites to win the title for most of the season, and needed to beat Yukoninfo.com to win.

They had their cheerleading team ready before the game, belting out the tunes to the team ready for the final countdown.

Yukoninfo.com were playing kingmaker as the destiny of the league title rested on how well they played.

The game started well for Chieftain as Mark Chandler got the first of his two goals, much to the delight of the cheering supporters, but Golden Boot winner Justin Carre scored soon afterwards.

When Chandler scored again the volume in the stands was raised to the max, only for a deafening silence to prevail after Andy Todd scored to level the match.

Half time came and went and still Chieftain needed to get a goal. They had some great opportunities, but couldn’t find the back of the net.

Air North skipper Iain Breckenridge was in the stands, but he was unable to watch, as the tension on the turf was equal to the penalty shootout in the world cup final.

Matthias Hartmann finally put Chieftain out of their misery when his deflected shot sealed a 3-2 win for Yukoninfo.com.

Pushparaj does it again for Driving Force

Driving Force won the battle of the basement 5-2 to move above their rivals Klondike Office Solutions and leave them with the wooden spoon.

Driving Force were in the mood to score, as Joel Pushparaj doubled his season’s tally with an unstoppable shot from one yard. Chris Stacey, Jonathan Hawkins and Jesse Koeller (two) picked up the other goals, as Driving Force tried to get some momentum going into the playoffs.

KOS were a poor relation to the team that had been on a three-match winning run. They lacked energy and generally performed well under the standards they have set for themselves.

They did their best to keep interest going when Sandy Gross  attempted a bicycle kick to entertain the crowd, but unfortunately for him the bicycle had a puncture and the handlebars were off-centre as the ball trickled away from him. He did follow this up with an air shot that left the ball where it was, and Gross substituted himself, feeling the shame of his performance.

Substitute Franklin Fru got the other KOS goal.

Zuccarini the ultimate hero

Michael Zuccarini was like a fox in the chicken coop during the final game of the morning. He scented blood and he wanted a piece of the action.

Pepsi ran away with the game in a 6-1 thumping of Yukon Brewing, who were again suffering from injuries to their top players.

Kruno Kunovic ended the season just like he started; scoring goals. He did have a few chances to increase the lead, but failed in his attempt, which only stirred Pepsi into action.

Zuccarini demonstrated his energy and skill, as he scored two goals in a Man of the Match performance. Andy Todd, Iain Breckenridge, with two, and Huy Nguyen all got on the scoresheet as Pepsi controlled the game.

There will be a rematch of these teams in the first round of the playoffs, with Pepsi hoping for the same result, and Yukon Brewing praying for some divine intervention from above.
