EDI and the Chest clash in battle of titans; power outage postpones game

A balanced attack by Medicine Chest gave Kilrich headaches as the latter was pill-fered 9-5 in Whitehorse Oldtimers hockey action on Sunday at Takhini Arena. Mr. MacDonald Phil-ed the net with a pair of goals, and single markers were dispensed by Jamie Cairns, Michel Dubois, Scott Olafsson, Gerry Brandt, Geordan Clark, Mervin Jacobsen and Clint Ireland. Kilrich got a trio from Ben Kileb, and a duo from Nate Clark.

Firth Rangers 7, EDI Dynamics 3

The blue boys upset the league leaders on the strength of two goals by Kevin Topping, and solo successes from George Morgan, Jay Massie, Marcello Masone, Mark Wierda and Peter Johnston. EDI was led by Derick Bilodeau with two and Geoff Quinsey with one.

CapriCMW 7, Air North Jets 6

Mark King’s third goal of the game with just under six minutes left proved to be the winner for Capri. Martin Lawrie recorded a hatty of his own, and Arlo O’Riordan sniped the other. The Jets were propelled by Ron Billingsley’s hat trick, and one each off the twigs of Mike Jim, Jason Steele and George Maratos.

Tim Hortons 3, Titanium Storage Titans 1

Doug Terry, Josh Savill and Tim Turner-Davis each scored in the first frame and Timmy’s hung on to win this tight-checking affair. Derek Dee swatted in the Titans only marker.

Thursday

Titanium Storage 3, Kilrich 1

Kyle Rolling scored the game winner midway through the second period to pace the Titans to win. Scott Palfreyman and Derek Dee also scored in the win, while Chris Nash replied for the yellow jackets.

Capri 0, Tim Hortons 0

A power outage resulted in a postponed game.

Wednesday

EDI 4, Medicine Chest 2

EDI’s Willy McKenna netted two in the battle of the top two teams, and Ty Heffner and Dan van der Linden added the others. Mike Gau and Phil MacDonald tallied for MC

Yukon Inn 4, Air North 4

The Inn men scored two goals in the last 35 seconds with their goalie pulled to earn the point. Greg Lane scored the tying goal with only 16 seconds left, brother Chris popped a pair and Frank Aucoin rounded out the scoring. Jason Steele stuffed home a pair for the flyers, and Mike JIm and Ron Billingsley added singles.

EDI leads the league standing with 53 points (26-8-1). The Chest sits second with 49 points (24-9-1). Timmy’s is third with 47 points (21-9-5).

The Chest’s Jamie Cairns leads the league scoring derby with 81 points (35 goals, 46 assists).

Timmy’s Paul Dainton continues his dominance in Goals Against Average with a 1.57 GAA. The Chest’s Gerald Tetlichi leads in goalie wins with 21.
