Whitehorse RCMP are investigating a single-vehicle collision on the North Klondike Highway that happened Monday night near Whitehorse.

One of the passengers reported seeing a northbound vehicle overtake their vehicle, lose control and leave the road.

The vehicle landed on the driver’s side of the vehicle, down a nine-metre embankment.

Witnesses at the scene were able to get the driver out, while Whitehorse city firefighters freed the passenger.

They were both transported to Whitehorse General Hospital with serious injuries.

The crash caused the closure of the North Klondike Highway for about three hours.
