Whitehorse RCMP are investigating a robbery at a downtown pharmacy.

Police are looking to identify the male suspect caught on video Friday morning at a store whose location they are not specifying.

Just after 8 a.m., the man approached a pharmacy employee and demanded pharmaceuticals, police said Friday afternoon.

He indicated it was a robbery, and showed the employee a weapon in his coat. He left a short time later with a bottle of opioid pain medication.

RCMP officers responded immediately with patrols of the area and downtown core.

The Police Dog Service and Forensic Identification Section were also called to the scene.

The man is described as a slender Caucasian male, approximately six feet tall.

He was seen wearing a grey coat, tan hat, khaki or beige pants and dark-coloured running shoes.

Police warn not to approach the man nor try to talk to him, as he may still be armed.

If you have information on the man’s identity or his whereabouts, contact police at 667-5555.

In an emergency, always call 911.

Considering he probably would not have looked at or been able to identify the type of pills, the pharmacist should have just given him a big bottle of laxatives. He probably would think twice about doing that again.

court flashback on Mar 10, 2017 at 6:15 pm

I figure he's been caught by now but he sure looks like someone I saw in court back 9 years ago. He was opening cars in Porter Creek and stealing money out of them. It took a day before it twigged who this guy looks like. He just sat there blank faced like it didn't matter to him. Not arrogant or snotty, just blank. His mom was there and told the judge to throw the book at him, she couldn't get through to him so maybe the judge could. That's what she said.

I wonder if the police will ever tell us if he is caught.

A bottle of narcotics? Maybe he'll overdose.

And to all the thumbs down that comment is going to get...I don't care...and I don't care about this thieving..junkie? I am tired of all b and e's, petty thefts.. a person can't even take their shoes off, someone is waiting to steal them... I am tired of the light sentences for murder and crime..I am tired of vehicle hit and runs..I am tired of the 100+ excuses every criminal has to get with it.. if this dude overdoses? That's one less problem society has to pay for for the next 50 years..

This shouldn't be too difficult. He looks like he is posing for the picture.

for surveillance footage, it's a surprisingly good image - someone knows this dbag, perhaps a CrimeStoppers reward will loosen their tongues...
