WOHL Wrap: CapriCMW comes from behind to upset Yukon Inn; double-dip in weekend win column

The Whitehorse Oldtimer's Hockey League (WOHL) played a couple of make-up games Saturday, followed by their regular Sunday games.

CapriCMW were the big weekend winners with two victories. Here are the results:

Saturday

Air North 5, Kilrich 5

Pete Mostyn scored his second goal of the game with 6:12 left in the game to earn Air North the comeback tie, as they trailed 4-1 at one point. Dustin Heffner also landed a couple for the Jets, and Kerry Pettitt got the other. For Kilrich, it was Scott Palfreyman with a pair, and single nails from Anthony Grottoli, Johnny Sembsmoen and Greg Charlie.

CapriCMW 8, Medicine Chest 5

Capri scored three times in a 29-second span late in the game to break open a close game. Ben Campbell, Vernon Asp and Arlo O'Riordan each potted two for Capri, and Ed van Randen and Greg Lane supplied one apiece. For the Chest, it was Gerry Brandt with two goals, and solo efforts came from Gus Morberg, Eric Chalmers and Michael Svoboda.

Sunday

CapriCMW 5, Yukon Inn 4

Al Hansen rifled home a low shot with only 43 ticks on the clock to lead CapriCMW to a come-from-behind upset win over Yukon Inn in Whitehorse Oldtimers hockey action Sunday at Takhini Arena.

Hansen's goal capped a three-goal rally and gave the boys in bright green a win over the league leaders. Ed van Randen added two in triumph, and single goals came from Greg Lane and Ron Daub. For Yukon Inn, goals were scored by Rob Green, Walt Liley, Kevin Topping and Gary McKellar.

Tim Hortons 3, Medicine Chest 1

Mike Gau led the streaking Tim's team (10 wins in last 11 games) with a pair of goals, and Willy McKenna got the other. Wade Hanna spoiled the shutout with a late goal.

Air North 5 EDI 3

Pete Mostyn and Dustin Heffner each netted two for the Jets, and Garrett Kuptana rounded out their scoring. Brian Currie, Nathan Bingham and Matt King scored one apiece for EDI.

Firth 6 Kilrich 2

Marcello Masone netted two goals to lead the Rangers, with single markers coming from Marcel Barrault, Mark Bowen, Nate Clark and Brent Stokes. For Kilrich, both goals came from league goalscoring leader Scott Palfreyman.

Despite their loss to CapriCMW, Yukon Inn leads the WOHL standings with 30 points, followed by Firth with 28 and Tim Hortons with 26.

Firth's Nate Clark continues to lead the scoring race with 39 points (18 goals, 21 assists), despite only playing in 13 games. Dustin Heffner is second with 34 points (16G, 18 assists) in 19 games.

Top goalie by Goals Against Average is Darryl Cann of Kilrich with a 1.50 GAA in only two games. Tim Hortons Glen Traverse sits in second with a 2.56 GAA in 18 games.

In goalie wins, Yukon Inn's Jim Antonissen leads with 14, followed by Traverse with 13.
