WOHL Playoffs: Johnstone's late tally lifts EDI over Medicine Chest

Kevin Johnstone's one-timer with only 45 seconds left on the clock propelled EDI to a tight 2-1 win over Medicine Chest in the teams' opening oldtimers playoff game at the Canada Games Centre Wednesday night.

Kevin Johnstone's one-timer with only 45 seconds left on the clock propelled EDI to a tight 2-1 win over Medicine Chest in the teams' opening oldtimers playoff game at the Canada Games Centre Wednesday night.

Dustin Heffner opened the scoring for EDI in the first period, but MC's Derek Bilodeau knotted the game at 1-1 on a laser backhander in the second period before Johnstone's late-game heroics.

Monday

Firth 4 CapriCMW 1

The 2023 oldtimers playoffs kicked off with four different players netting goals for Firth in this hard-fought affair – Frank Aucoin, Peter Johnston, George Morgan and Ryan Martin (empty-netter).

Capri's marksman was James Pugsley.

Yukon Inn 5 Titanium Storage 1

The league champs Yukon Inn continued their roll into the post season with an opening playoff win.

Gerry Brandt notched a couple, and single scores came off the twigs of Brad Hameister, Willy McKenna and Geordan Clark.

Chris Carli replied for Titanium.
